Rev. Donald R. Collins, Jr

The Reverend Donald R. Collins, Jr., our loving husband and father went to be with his ‘Heavenly Daddy’ on February 9, 2014.  He was born in Columbus, Indiana on November 6, 1967 to Donald R. Collins, Sr and Vickie Collins.

After he graduated from Columbus North High School in 1986, Don went to Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island where he received his Pastry Arts degree.  Don answered his call to ministry and earned his Associate degree in Christian Education and Biblical Studies from Nazarene Bible College in 1999. He was ordained in 2003 as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. Don ministered for 20 plus years as a youth minister in Indiana, Texas and Colorado.

Don is survived by the love of his life, Cindy of 15 1/2 years and their dear children, Derek and Madelyn. He is also survived by his father, brother, sister, nieces, nephews, great nieces and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, his mother and his mother-in-law.

Don enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning along with his coffee and Coca Cola.

Mostly he loved his ‘Heavenly Daddy’.  Don served his ‘Heavenly Daddy’ to the best of his ability even when he was disabled by writing a daily devotional blog from 2010 to 2013.

A visitation will be Thursday, February 13th from 5 – 7 pm at Mountain View Mortuary and his “Great Homecoming” Celebration will be on Friday, February 14th at 11:00 am at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene.  Don has request in lieu of flowers that donations be given to the General Church of the Nazarene missions, youth or disaster relief fund (4123 E. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909).
